Kopanang Gold Mine
Locally Kopanang primarily mines the Vaal Reef at depths between 1,300m and 2,600m, with some mining occurring in the Crystalkop Reef which is situated around 250m above the Vaal Reef. A single shaft that is 2,334m deep provides access to the workings. Gold is the main mineral extracted with uranium-oxide as a by product.
